Keegan looks much better today...on paper at least.  His labs were stable, and he hasn't needed oxygen or dialysis today.  His fluid retention was down to about 2.5 lbs from about 7 pounds.  We had to make some changes to his TPN and tube feeds, but other than that, the doctors were more interested in seeing how his kidneys would work without any support at all today.  When we changed his central line dressing today, there was some concern because it looked rather red and swollen.  We sent a tissue culture and redressed it.  The cultures will take awhile to come back, but so far, he is not symptomatic of an infection.

He looked great physically when he woke up this morning, even if he was pretty lethargic.  Through the course of the day, he's gotten more swollen, tired, and moody.  He only agreed to leave the room when we said we'd go up to the cardiac floor to see his friends there.  Afterward, we convinced him to go outside, but he would not walk today.  Despite those things, I would still consider today a good day for Keegan.

Here are some pictures from Audrey's visit today!

We have definitely been encouraged by the progress Keegan made this weekend.  Gray and I feel a giant weight lifted by the discussions this weekend of Keegan recovering from this hit to his little body.  We are fully aware that his kidney will not be 100% after this, and many questions for his immunosuppression from here on out remain.  Still, we will take what we can get at this point and follow Keegan's lead in taking each day as it comes.  Thank you so much for your continuing support, prayers, and love for our Bug.  We simply cannot express how much you mean to us.

We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
In Him, our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name.
May Your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in You.
Psalm 33:20-22
